Arnie has over 25 years of experience as a senior executive and investment professional in the technology sectors of microelectronics, semiconductor, optics, nanotechnology, life sciences, fuel cells and photonics.  A CPA by training, his career has included years of venture capital, international M&A, and as President & CEO of a materials supplier to the microelectronics industry. 

Professional Life

Prior to joining Sagebrook, Arnie was Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer at Connecticut Innovations, the state of Connecticut’s investor in emerging technology companies and a national model for public investment in the health care and technology sectors. During his tenure of over seven years at Connecticut Innovations, the organization achieved returns commensurate with the most successful private sector venture capital peers. Arnie served on the board of directors of a number of emerging growth technology companies while at Connecticut Innovations, and then spent two years as CEO and CFO with a privately held Connecticut corporation that provides nanotech-based high performance coatings. Prior to Connecticut Innovations, Arnie spent nine years as President and CEO of Berkshire Corporation, a privately held international manufacturer in the microelectronics, semi-conductor, and optics markets. Earlier in his career, he had responsibility for international mergers and acquisitions as well as P&L responsibility for the non-woven industrial division of Dexter Corp, a Fortune 500 specialty chemical and materials producer and the oldest company on the NYSE. Arnie also served as COO & CFO for Bermont N.V., a Netherlands Antilles international real estate development corporation, managing its US real estate development efforts. As a practicing CPA, Arnie spent five years with PricewaterhouseCoopers as an auditor, campus recruiter, instructor and consultant, and served over three years in the United States Air Force, Tactical Air Command as a systems analyst.

Education and Real Life

Arnie has had professional affiliations over the years with the Connecticut Venture Group, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Forum, National Venture Capital Association, Clean Energy State Alliance and Great Start. In December 2005, Arnie received the Connecticut Turnaround Management Association’s Annual Award for Service.

Arnie has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from The Ohio State University. He is passionate about his family, skiing, golf and kayaking.
