Owen Dempsey

Owen Dempsey is an experienced entrepreneur and business executive. At Sagebrook Partners, he focuses on strategic consulting and technology advisory work with a particular interest in emerging growth and middle-market companies in the life sciences, healthcare, advanced materials, technology and cleantech sectors. Owen has run private and public companies ranging in size from start-ups to global businesses with multiple divisions. He is experienced with all stages of private financings, NASDAQ and foreign listings and the M&A process. Owen brings with him his real world leadership experience and their lessons and wisdom. He also brings a genuine love of working with talented individuals & teams to identify and achieve lofty, demanding goals.
Prior to Sagebrook Partners, Owen formed Riverbend Consulting, providing interim management services as acting CEO for cleantech developer NanoPaper, LLC and then American Aerogel Corporation, a manufacturer of advanced insulation materials. Between 2003-2007, Owen assembled an award winning team as CEO of SRU Biosystems, a nanotech instrument company. In 1999, Owen was asked to participate in the formation of Perbio Science AB, a provider of life science discovery tools, which he helped lead to over $230 million in revenue before its acquisition by Fisher Scientific in 2003. From 1990 to 1999, he was a Co-founder & CEO at Endogen, Inc., a life science supplier company.
Owen’s experience advising executive teams and corporate Boards began in the late 1980s when he worked at the International Management Development Institute in Lausanne, Switzerland. He has served numerous times as a company director and on several occasions as Interim CEO. Owen also served as a board member of ALSSA, the Analytical and Life Science Systems association from 2003 to 2008. Owen is currently a Director at Active Motif.
Owen graduated from Dartmouth College with his B.A. cum laude in History and earned his MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. Owen’s non-work life is shared with his wife and three sons. They pursue their collective passions for travel, the out-of-doors and adventure.
